To successfully clean fabric, it is important to determine the type of fabric and the recommended cleaning code. This information can be found on the tag attached to the furniture, either underneath the footrest or on the dust cover underneath your furniture.

Step 1: Clean, using Guardsman Fabric Cleaner

  • Apply directly onto a clean cloth and gently blot over the stain, repeatedly until it disappears; do not rub!
  • If the stain remains, use the Deep Fabric Cleaner for stubborn stains. Apply directly onto the stain; do not rub!
  • Blot with a clean cloth to lift and remove the stain, repeating as needed until the stain is removed.
  • Once the stain is removed, blot the area again with Guardsman Fabric Cleaner, applying it to a cleaning cloth.

Step 2: Protect and deodorise, using Guardsman Fabric Protectors

  • Safeguard your fabric and apply to protector to the area.
  • The odour neutralising agent is designed to eliminate many common household odours from fabric furniture, automotive fabric upholstery and carpets.
  • Apply directly onto fabric with one to two sprays to the source of the odour. Dont saturate.

Leather is a natural material and, when properly cared for, will maintain its beauty and appearance for many years. It is also the easiest to care for of all furniture upholstery materials. Each leather type has its own care and cleaning specifications, but there are also some generalisations:

How to protect and care for your leather furniture:

Step 1: Clean, using Guardsman Leather Cleaner

  • Shake bottle and dampen sponge with cleaner
  • Squeeze sponge to form a light foam
  • Gently wipe the leather in a light, circular motion; do not rub!
  • Gently wipe dry with soft cloth to finish

Step 2: Protect, using Guardsman Leather Protector

  • Shake bottle and dampen sponge with protector
  • Apply to the leather in a light, circular motion; do not rub!
  • Wipe off excess liquid and allow leather to air dry

To help maintain your timber furniture’s beauty, wood materials need the right care. The finish of the pieces is what will ultimately aid in the longevity and durability of your furniture. No finish is totally everlasting, but maintaining your pieces with regular love, care and attention will make it last much longer.

How to protect and care for your timber furniture:

Step 1: Clean, dust and polish using Guardsman Purifying Timber Cleaner

  • Shake bottle and dampen sponge with cleaner
  • Wipe in the direction of the wood grain
  • When cleaning surface, wipe in the direction of the timber grain.
  • It is recommended to polish your furniture every six to twelve months to maintain the glossy finish and durability of your timber pieces.
  • High gloss finishes require extra care and attention to prevent dust and smudges from being overly apparent. Be careful to avoid scratching high gloss finishes; use a feather duster or very soft, cleaning cloth.

Step 2: Polish and maintain your timber furniture, using Guardsman Purifying Timber Polish

  • Shake can and spray onto a clean, soft cotton cloth.
  • Wipe in the direction of the wood grain
  • Always dust before applying wood furniture polish

Step 3: Dust, using Guardsman Ultimate Dusting Cloth

  • Fold the cloth in half
  • Wipe in the direction of the wood grain
  • When cloth is completely soiled, hand wash it in lukewarm water with mild detergent and air dry
  • Dusting frequently with a clean, soft, dry, lint-free cloth will help keep your furniture polished and cared for. Small dust particles can cause scratching on the surface of your timbers, so take care when cleaning.
  • Test any cleaning product first in a hidden area to ensure they are suitable for use on your furniture (perhaps on the underside of the seat cushion, or the back of the armrest).
  • Always protect your leather after you have cleaned it with a quality protector cream/polish. This will create an invisible barrier on the surface and help prevent stains and spills from penetrating and damaging the leather.
  • For the best results, clean and protect your leather six to twelve times a year. This will prevent dirt and oils to build up.
  • Dust your leather furniture regularly, as dust can cause damage to your leather finish. For best results, try the Guardsman Ultimate Dusting Cloth, it grabs and traps dust quickly!
  • Do not use regular leather care products on suede and nubuck finishes. In most cases, fabric protectors will be recommended.
  • Do not place your furniture in direct sunlight, as this will cause your pieces to fade.
  • Never place your leather furniture near a heat source (i.e. fireplaces, heating vents, direct sunlight) as the leather can dry out.
  • If something is spilt on your furniture, attend to it quickly, blotting the stain rather than rubbing.
